+DESIGN CODING PROJECTS+
GOAL: To learn how to design, animate, and create using the open-source computer programming language and integrated development environment, Processing.
COntext: I was introduced to the program in my class, Using Computer Code as an Expressive Medium. We were challenged to create an array of design and animation pieces based on a prompt each week. Here is a compilation of those pieces.

+PHASE 1: LEARNING BASIC SHAPES & COLORS+
To familiarize ourselves with the basics of Processing, my class was asked to use basic commands to create static graphic designs. Through this exercise, I became familiar with how to visualize shapes onto my electronic canvas, as well as how to pair color combinations to create a certain aesthetic. Below are my designs: geometric art and a self-portrait.

+PHASE 2: ANIMATION+
The next phase in becoming Processing "masters" was to implement dynamic functions. I used the random() function, which generates a random number from an indicated number range, in relation to color to generate a random color and position values. The result was the piece below, where each time you refresh the page, the flower and grass will be randomly colored, and the clouds will appear in different places.
I took things a step further to create an animated scene using the random( ) function. I created two pieces:
1. a scene of someone struggling to walk through snow, and
2. an abstract space scene.
+PHASE 3: MAKING INTErACTIVE ART+
The last phase of this learning process was to create interactive art pieces, specifically through mouse motions. I wanted to ensure that I had a good grasp of the skills I previously learned, so my pieces employ basic shapes and the random( ) functions again.
